Douglas W. Gatlin
Executive Director
Faith And The City

Doug Gatlin has served as Executive Director of Faith And The City since the independent, nonprofit, Atlanta-based organization was founded in 1999 by former U.S. Ambassadors James T. Laney and Andrew Young. Faith And The City encourages a sense of community throughout the 20-county Atlanta metropolitan region, elevates the moral dimensions of critical issues, and encourages people of all faiths to engage in public dialogue. The organization helps to develop informed public religious leadership through partnerships with three seminaries – Candler School of Theology, Columbia Theological Seminary, the Interdenominational Theological Center, and McAfee School of Theology. Faith And The City also serves as the parent organization for the Faith And The City Leadership Institute and the Mentor A Family Program.

Mr. Gatlin was Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Atlanta during Mayor Andrew Young’s administration and later served as Executive Director of the Atlanta Organizing Committee, which brought the Centennial Olympic Games to Atlanta. He then served as Senior Vice President of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.

During the first term of President Clinton’s administration, Mr. Gatlin was Executive Director of the Southern Africa Enterprise Development Fund, a $100 million fund established by USAID. He was a founding Director of Cycle Aid for Africa (based in Osaka, Japan) and of Olympic Aid (w/UNICEF). He also has been president of a consulting firm dedicated to developing beneficial relationships between the Kansai region of Japan and Southern Africa.
