Faith And The City E-Letter
September 9, 2003

Rev. Dr. Harvey Newman has been appointed director of the Faith And The City program at Columbia Theological Seminary. He succeeds Rev. Dr. Jim Watkins. Initially, Newman will serve jointly at Columbia and Georgia State University, where he is professor of Urban Policy Studies, Department of Public Administration and Urban Studies at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University.

During the fall semester of this year, Newman will fulfill his prior commitments to GSU while overseeing the Faith And The City program at Columbia and teaching Power, Faith and Civic Leadership, a master's level course offered jointly by GSU, the Interdenominational Theological Center, and Columbia. Newman will lead Columbia's Atlanta Alternative Context course in January. In the spring and the following two years of the grant, it is anticipated that he will teach one additional course at Columbia as well as additional Doctor of Ministry courses in the summer.
