Atlanta Interfaith Group Models Diversity in Pilgrimage to Turkey

In November, 45 members of metro Atlanta's Muslim, Jewish, and Christian communities -- representatives of more than two dozen local congregations -- traveled together to Turkey. The interfaith, multicultural, and multiracial group -- described by some members as a band of "Atlanta pilgrims" -- lived together, ate together, worshipped together and, perhaps most important, talked together during their sojourn through an ancient land.

Event: A Vision of King from The Other Side
Thirty-five years after his death, Martin Luther King, Jr., is widely celebrated as an American hero. Yet in many ways, the public image of King has been largely domesticated, institutionalized, and commercialized. As we gather at Ebenezer Baptist Church, we will address this problem by way of examining the radical witness and vision of King and how it is relevant to the Atlanta community as well as the national and global struggle for justice.

Event: Jean Vanier to lead Christian Unity Retreat
Jean Vanier, Founder of L'Arche, will lead a two day retreat in June of 2003. L'Arche is an international federation of residential communities for those with mental disabilities. Participants will represent a variety of Christian traditions.
