Feature: Atlanta World Pilgrims -- A Christian Perspective

Inspired by her November sojourn to Turkey with the Atlanta World Pilgrims, the Rev. Canon Elizabeth I. Rechter of the Cathedral of St. Philip is joining another international pilgrimage to nurture the metro community's growing interfaith dialogue. Last fall, Rechter was one of 45 metro Atlantans from Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities who spent 10 days together in historic, predominantly Islamic Turkey. This spring, Rechter and other Atlanta pilgrims plan to travel to Brazil, which has a large concentration of Christians, as well as some Muslim and Jewish representation.

Announcement: Faith And The City Interfaith Dialogue on Public Issues to Air on AIB Cable TV
"Faith And The City Forum: Interfaith Dialogue on Public Issues" will premiere March 4 at 7:30 a.m. and March 5 at 7:30 p.m. on Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters cable channels. The weekly, 30-minute panel discussion will feature clergy, laity, and subject experts representing various faith traditions and discussing a range of public issues. Additional information on the public issues forum will appear in subsequent FATC e-letters.

Event: "A Vision of King from The Other Side"
Thirty-five years after his death, Martin Luther King, Jr., is widely celebrated as an American hero. Yet in many ways, the public image of King has been largely domesticated, institutionalized, and commercialized. As we gather at Ebenezer Baptist Church, we will address this problem by way of examining the radical witness and vision of King and how it is relevant to the Atlanta community as well as the national and global struggle for justice.

Event: "2003 Conference: Sex, Marriage and Family and the Religions of the Book: Modern Problems, Enduring Solutions"
Traditional forms of marriage and family are in trouble today. This conference examines the problems of marriage and family life during the last 25 years and explores a variety of solutions. Eighty distinguished experts from a wide range of fields will outline and debate the issues from a multitude of religions and political perspectives.

Event: Jean Vanier to lead Christian Unity Retreat
Jean Vanier, Founder of L'Arche, will lead a two-day retreat in June of 2003. L'Arche is an international federation of residential communities for those with mental disabilities. Participants will represent a variety of Christian traditions.
